3 surprising myths about botox

When it comes to anti wrinkle treatments, especially the non-surgical ones, the one that easily tops the charts is botox. In fact, the term botox enjoys so much popularity these days that it has become synonymous with anti ageing treatments. Every single person especially the ones who are concerned about their looks or possess slightest of knowledge about cosmetic industry, has at least superficial knowledge about botox. Such is the popularity of this wonder drug.

However, the unfortunate part of the story is that people are not very much aware of this drug in spite of its huge popularity. In fact, it is surrounded by way more myths or misconceptions than you could possibly imagine. Perhaps, you yourself might be believing in one or more of such myths and treating it as a fact. Here are a few of these myths that you should be aware of.

Myth 1: Botox injects are very painful

Fact: This is actually a silly misconception because of the simple fact that no matter what drug is being injected to your skin, the pain or discomfort would be the same for each one of it. So it is not at all the case that botox injections are more painful than the others. In fact, ultra fine needles are used for this procedure which causes minimal discomfort or pain. So you do not have to worry about being in tremendous pain at all.

Myth 2: Botox only proves useful for facial wrinkles or fine lines

Fact: This is a very common misconception among people. The fact is that botox was actually developed for the treatment of certain types of neurological disorders. It was not introduced to treat the facial lines. Till date, botox is being employed by neurologists to treat migraines, depression, involuntary muscle movements and other similar diseases. It is also used to treat the condition of excessive sweating, which is known as hyperhidrosis in medical terms.

Myth 3: Botox treatment is not safe

Fact: Botox treatment has been around in Sydney and other parts of the world for over two decades now and it can boast of an established safety history. Around 20 million treatments have been performed using botox till date and any sort of long term adverse effect of this treatment is yet to appear.
